Bone-Building Salad Recipe

This salad recipe is rich in a variety of minerals, including calcium and phosphorus, making it good fuel for the development and maintenance of healthy teeth and bones.

Sardines are naturally plentiful in omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D, which are also needed in your system to support your teeth and bones.

Warning on Microwave Buttered Popcorn, and How to Make Healthy Popcorn

Last week, the New York Times ran a story about a 53-year old Colorado man whose penchant for microwave buttered popcorn may have caused him to develop a serious lung condition called bronchiolitis obliterans, or "popcorn workers' lung."

Initially diagnosed with generalized lung inflammation, the Colorado man's doctor eventually discovered that he ate at least two bags of microwave buttered popcorn per day for more than a decade. He often made it a point to inhale the butter-flavored steam that came out of the bags when he first opened them.

Berry and Cottage Cheese Salad Recipe

This salad brings together a rich blend of antioxidants, easy-to-digest protein, and cucumbers that make it cool and refreshing for after a workout or on a hot day.

Be sure to dry the berries before combining them with the dressing ingredients.

Please note: although most people who cannot tolerate dairy products tend to have no problems digesting small amounts of cottage cheese, if you are apprehensive about including any amount of dairy in your diet, this recipe is just as good without the cottage cheese. The combination of balsamic vinegar and lime juice really seems to enhance the natural flavors of the berries.

Three-Tomato Salad Recipe

Tomatoes, tomatoes, and more tomatoes. This delicious salad recipe brings together three varieties of one of summer's healthiest fruits to make for a light but satisfying meal.

Tomatoes are rich in naturally occurring vitamin C, beta-carotene, and vitamin K. They also contain many other vitamins, minerals, and phyto-nutrients, including lycopene. Lycopene is a powerful antioxidant that numerous studies indicate has the ability to reduce your risk of developing many different varieties of cancer.

Risotto with Peas and Basil Recipe

Looking for a delicious, dairy-free risotto? With the right amount of time and love put into this recipe, I'm willing to bet that this creamy rice dish is as good as anything ever made by Jamie Oliver or Tyler Florence.

I strongly recommend that you use fresh basil for this recipe - it really enhances and brings together the flavors of the peas, rice, and broth.

Tropical Smoothie Recipe

This tropical smoothie recipe calls for just four ingredients, all of which are foods that are indigenous to tropical regions. If you can't find coconut milk at your local grocery store, try an Asian food market. Most Asian markets now carry brands that contain only trace amounts of preservatives, if any.

Coconut milk contributes loads of healthy fatty acids, richness, and a wonderful coconut aroma to this smoothie.

Cucumber and Red Onion Salad Recipe

Cucumber and red onion slices combine to make a refreshing, crunchy, and sweet salad dish, perfect for the dog days of summer. If you can find smaller cucumbers, the kind used to make dill pickles, use as many of them as you need to substitute for the 3 conventional cucumbers that this recipe calls for.

The quantities listed in the ingredients section make approximately 6 servings.

Goji Berry Recipes

When we first started eating goji berries in our household, we ate them mainly straight out of the bag, and occasionally used them to flavor water or tea.

Over the past several weeks, I tested more than ten unique recipes that call for goji berries. I made so many batches of different goji berry recipes that I started to feel like the Barefoot Contessa, minus the butter, mayonnaise, and sour cream!

What follows are the goji berry recipes that received the highest grades from my family members. I hope that you enjoy them as much as we do!

Vita-Mix Blender: The Best Blender that I Can Recommend

Over the past two months, my wife and I helped my Aunt start a small but quaint cafe in the city that we live in. After three years of hoping that one or more of our relatives would move up to our city from Toronto, to finally have it happen was a cause for celebration!

Italian Pea and Basil Soup Recipe

Green peas are full of many health-promoting nutrients, the most abundant one being vitamin K1, which is needed for optimal bone mineralization. Green peas are also abundant in folate, manganese, dietary fiber, vitamin B1, beta-carotene, and vitamin C.
